£170.00

4-Week Handbuilding Course

Build, shape and design with clay - explore the essentials of handbuilding in a relaxed, small-group setting.

Join us for a 4-week introduction to handbuilding — perfect for beginners or anyone who wants to reconnect with the tactile, mindful side of working with clay. Each week you’ll discover new forming methods, from simple pinch pots to slab-built vessels and decorative pieces. Classes run Sunday 10am – 12pm, starting 11th January 2026. You’ll learn to create, decorate, and finish your own pieces, guided every step of the way by Jess. You’ll only pay for the finished pieces you choose to keep (to cover clay, glaze, and firing).

What You’ll Learn

  • Week 1: Pinch pots and the basics of clay handling
  • Week 2: Coiling and building height and texture
  • Week 3: Slab building and joining techniques
  • Week 4: Decorating, glazing, and finishing touches

Who It’s For

  • Complete beginners curious about working with clay
  • Anyone wanting to focus on sculptural or functional handbuilt work
  • Those seeking a calm, creative morning activity in a supportive group

Refunds & Attendance

Our courses are small and places are limited, so bookings must be paid in full at the time of registration.

If you need to cancel, please let us know in writing as soon as possible. A small admin fee (10%) applies to all refunds.

  • More than 3 weeks before the start date – 80% refund
  • 2–3 weeks before – 40% refund
  • Less than 2 weeks before – no refund

You’re welcome to transfer your booking to another person if you can’t attend. Unfortunately, transfers between different courses aren’t possible.

If the tutor is unable to run a session, we’ll arrange a suitable catch-up for the group or refund that session. In the unlikely event the full course can’t run, you’ll receive a full refund.

Pottery relies on timing and studio space, so missed sessions are difficult to make up. We’ll do our best to help where possible, but please be aware that rescheduling isn’t always an option.
