6-Week Handbuilding & Throwing Foundations Course

Thursdays, 8th January – 12th February 2026 (6 weeks). Learn the core techniques of pottery — from handbuilding to wheel throwing — in a relaxed, supportive 6-week course.

Join our 6-week Thursday morning course designed for beginners and those wanting to refresh their pottery foundations. Across six guided sessions, you’ll explore both handbuilding and wheel throwing — learning to form, shape, and finish your own unique pieces. Each class runs 9:30am – 12pm, starting Thursday 8th January 2026. This is a structured course where each week builds on the last, helping you gain confidence and skill with clay. You’ll only pay for the pieces you choose to keep (covering clay, glazing, and firing costs).

What You’ll Learn

  • Week 1–2: Handbuilding fundamentals – pinch pots, slabs, and coils
  • Week 3–4: Introduction to wheel throwing – centering, pulling, and shaping
  • Week 5–6: Trimming, surface decoration, and glazing basics
  • Guided practice with individual support and demonstrations

Who It’s For

  • Beginners eager to learn the foundations of pottery
  • Anyone wanting to try both handbuilding and wheel throwing
  • Those looking for a relaxed, creative outlet in a small group setting

Refunds & Attendance

Our courses are small and places are limited, so bookings must be paid in full at the time of registration.

If you need to cancel, please let us know in writing as soon as possible. A small admin fee (10%) applies to all refunds.

  • More than 3 weeks before the start date – 80% refund
  • 2–3 weeks before – 40% refund
  • Less than 2 weeks before – no refund

You’re welcome to transfer your booking to another person if you can’t attend. Unfortunately, transfers between different courses aren’t possible.

If the tutor is unable to run a session, we’ll arrange a suitable catch-up for the group or refund that session. In the unlikely event the full course can’t run, you’ll receive a full refund.

Pottery relies on timing and studio space, so missed sessions are difficult to make up. We’ll do our best to help where possible, but please be aware that rescheduling isn’t always an option.
